Uses his knowledge of financing practices to optimally serve clients
Christian Wagenaar
Senior Advisor Adelaer Group 's-Hertogenbosch
Christiaan's first degree was a HEAO-MER (Higher Education and Economics) degree in Rotterdam, which he completed afterward. He then went to work for Exact software and then IBM as a trainee. After several years in IT, Christiaan transitioned to banking and started working for ABN AMRO as a private advisor for wealthy individuals. During this period, Christiaan began a part-time study of tax law at Erasmus University, which he successfully completed after five years.
While completing his tax law degree, he joined ABN AMRO subsidiary HBU (Hollandsche Bank-Unie), where he worked in corporate lending through Special Products (tax financing structures). At HBU, he was responsible for the shipping portfolio when Deutsche Bank acquired HBU. Within Deutsche Bank, he moved to the newly established Lending department, Structured Finance, where he remained for another 12 years, working in various sectors, but with a focus on Rotterdam-based companies (including offshore and port-related businesses), later moving into real estate financing.
In recent years, Christiaan, together with a small team within Deutsche Bank in the Netherlands, was responsible for a large portfolio of solid real estate deals where the emphasis was on growing that portfolio – a very interesting period.
At Adelaer, Christiaan will be able to use his knowledge of the many facets of financing practice to optimally serve clients.
